Volunteering at International Football Club

What happens to my volunteers’ deposit?

Volunteering is a key part of how International Football Club operates. Every matchday, training session, and club event depends on members stepping up to help behind the scenes.

By signing up for a shift, you’re not just completing a requirement—you’re actively helping to keep the club running for everyone. From preparing the pitch to supporting the bar and assisting on matchdays, every role makes a real difference.

We rely on our members to share the responsibility so we can keep football affordable, organised, and enjoyable across all teams.

Volunteer

Matchdays at International Football Club are only possible because members step up to support the work behind the scenes. Volunteering is not an extra—it is a core part of how the club functions every weekend.

Whether it’s helping in the bar, preparing the pitch, refereeing, or supporting general operations, every role contributes directly to the smooth running of the club and the experience of players, visitors, and families.

We ask all members to take responsibility for at least a few shifts across the season and to approach each role with reliability and commitment once they have signed up.

The deposit

The volunteer deposit ensures that International Football Club can continue to run smoothly and fairly for all members. It reflects the shared responsibility needed to keep the club operating each week.

Matchdays rely on volunteers for essential tasks like setup, bar work, assisting officials, and pack down. If these roles are not filled, the club must outsource the work, which creates significant extra costs and impacts affordability for everyone.

The deposit encourages members to take part in volunteering across the season. Once the required shifts are completed, the deposit is returned in full.

How to sign-up

“Success on the pitch starts with effort off it.”

When there are not enough volunteers..

To run matchdays effectively, certain roles—especially bar duties—must always be covered. When these positions are not filled by members, the club has no choice but to bring in external support.

In these situations, the volunteer deposit paid to IFC is used to cover the cost of staffing through VUC. This ensures that operations continue, but it also means the deposit is used rather than returned.

The system is designed so that, where possible, these responsibilities are handled within the club. When members step up and complete their shifts, costs are avoided and deposits can be refunded in full.
